Restorative Care for Children
Even children need and deserve excellent dental care. As a complete family dental practice serving Clinton, Indiana, Crown Hill Dentistry provides full children’s dentistry so that all of your loved ones can experience total and complete oral health.
What makes children’s dentistry special? Kids are extremely prone to cavities, and even baby teeth need extra care to make sure they don’t fall out early. While it may seem as though your child doesn’t need to visit a dentist until his or her baby teeth are replaced by the permanent adult teeth, nothing could be further from the truth. Baby teeth serve an important function in your child’s oral development, and if they fall out too soon because of damage or decay, it can lead to long-term problems like an off-bite relationship (and future orthodontic treatment). Small children who drink from baby bottles can develop something called “baby bottle decay,” and we can both teach you how to help your child avoid this problem and provide children’s dentistry exams to catch the issue before it causes irreversible damage.
Then, once your child’s adult teeth come in, we can provide a range of treatments that will help him or her develop a strong, healthy smile. Fluoride treatments encourage stronger tooth enamel, and dental sealants protect teeth from the bacteria and plaque that cause cavities. We’ll show your child the right way to brush and floss, and we’ll encourage healthy habits that will stick with him or her for a lifetime.
If your child is 2 years old or older, it’s time to start regular dental checkups and cleanings. American Dental Association recommends 1st visit by 1st birthday to begin to familiarize children with the dental environment and to be there for parents to address any questions and make sure they have the most up to date information on caring for their child’s oral health.
